Hyundai has announced that it will bring E-GMP architecture-based cars launched in India.

Hyundai Motor India on Wednesday(08-12-2021) has announced that it will expand its electric car lineup in India up to six BEVs by 2028.
The South Korean auto major company will also introduce its dedicated E-GMP modular architecture in the country. The future car Hyundai electric cars meant for the Indian market will come based on E-GMP architecture.
The upcoming electric vehicles will comprise different body styles, targeting the mass market and mass premium segments in India. The automaker Hyundai has further said that it will not only launch new electric vehicles in India but will focus on developing EV charging infrastructure all over the country. also, Hyundai is aiming for collaboration with a local EV company.
Hyundai also claimed that the upcoming electric cars meant for the Indian market would see a higher side of localization in terms of production and to keep their pricing competitive in india.
The Indian EV market is witnessing a rapid evolution with the emergence of new companies in the two-wheeler segment. However, the passenger vehicle segment is yet to see higher penetration.
Hyundai already launched its Kona EV in India and now the company is aiming for a larger chunk with more products in the portfolio. Also, with this big strategy, Hyundai aims to take the first-mover advantage ev market.
The electric passenger vehicle segment in India has only a few models available. India’s largest carmaker and seller Maruti Suzuki is not to enter the EV space. Mahindra has only one model in the EV segment – eVerito. Tata Motors has two models Nexon Ev and Tigor EV, while MG Motor sells ZS EV. Apart from that, no other car brand has any electric car on offer in India. Hyundai aims to bring its BEV models here to grab this ev space.

As we keep on rethinking the versatility space, today we are once more exhibiting our responsibility towards Indian clients with the declaration of extending our BEV line-up to 6 vehicles for the Indian Market by 2028,” he further added.the global lineup and putting money into the carmaker’s electric-vehicle ambitions.

Hyundai expects the Indian EV market size to be around 1.75 lakh units by 2028 going by current trends. But that figure is likely to be revised based on several extraneous factors like battery costs, charging infrastructure, and government subsidies, which could swing either way, making a long-term projection for a growth hard to predict.
But, whatever the growth is, Hyundai wants a large chunk of it. Garg says the company has “set an internal benchmark, wherein any segment that we are present with BEVs, we should have a market share higher than what we have in the same segment in the IC space.”
Expanding charging network
The company is also working towards improving the EV infrastructure in India with strategic collaborations. Apart from providing a 7.4kW AC home charger to customers, Hyundai has also set up public 50kW DC fast-charging stations in four cities (with Indian Oil), installed AC fast chargers at 108 dealerships in 15 cities (free for Hyundai customers) and is providing a 24×7 roadside charging assistance pan-India, along with a vehicle-to-vehicle and portable charging solution for its EV customers in six cities (free for three years).|Hyundai launch six electric cars by 2028
