A mid-engine Corvette seemed like a huge break from tradition when the C8 generation hit the market in late 2019, and Chevy further modernized the sports car with the introduction of the 2024 E-Ray hybrid model. But already the Corvette is set to go through another permutation when a fully electric version is added to the lineup. Chevrolet hasn’t released many details yet, but it has confirmed that the Corvette EV is on the way. We expect a powerful, three- or four-motor powertrain with around 1000 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive. The two-seat interior will likely carry over from the gasoline-powered Corvette. The race is on for an all-electric sports car, with upcoming rivals such as the Dodge Challenger eMuscle and an electric version of the Porsche 718 both eyeing the same performance niche of the EV marketplace.
